Risk management

Risk, managed in layers.

On Javlot, a loss never rides on a single safeguard. It has to clear several independent ones, from how each position is sized down to the platform-wide emergency stops. Here is each of them, and what it actually covers.

Two levels of control

The first level is the discipline built into the strategy itself. The second is what the Javlot platform adds on top, on every account, continuously.

Level 1 · strategy discipline

Each strategy applies its own risk discipline, shown in its published profile: how much its value has swung in the past (volatility), the largest drop it has been through (drawdown), and the type of asset it uses.

Risk per positionThe size and entry logic are specific to each strategy.
Risk per sequenceSome strategies chain several positions; the profile accounts for it.

Level 2 · platform safeguards

ContinuousActive around the clock, up to the emergency stop.

Defense in depth

The platform safeguards, from the closest to the position to the most global. Each one acts on its own: if one is not enough, the next takes over.

At the threshold you set, everything is closed and copying stops, via our copy infrastructure.

A limit on how much a strategy can put to work at each broker, only ever lowered.

Per position

Sized to your capital

Nobody copies "the same amount". Each position is scaled to your own capital, then adjusted by a setting chosen for the strategy. A 10,000 EUR account and a 50,000 EUR account take the same position measured as a percentage, never the same fixed amount.

Per account

Loss limit (drawdown)

You set a loss threshold. When it is reached, every position is closed and copying stops, automatically, through our copy infrastructure, typically within a few seconds. Each strategy comes with a default value suited to its profile, which you can lower at any time.

Per broker

Limit per broker

Beyond the account, a per-broker limit caps the total amount a strategy can put to work at any one broker (the company that holds your account). It moves in one direction only: it can be lowered, never raised. When a broker reaches its limit, the strategy stops opening new positions there.

Around announcements

News Guard

Some strategies are exposed to the sharp price swings around big economic announcements. News Guard pauses the strategy and closes positions about an hour before a high-impact announcement, stays out during that period, then resumes automatically about an hour after the announcement. Checked every five minutes.

Platform

Emergency stops

As a last resort, two switches. The broker halt isolates a single broker without touching the rest. The general halt is the full stop across the whole strategy: it closes every position and cuts copying from end to end.

Broker halt

An emergency off switch limited to one broker. The others keep running normally.

General halt

Full stop of the strategy. Closes every position immediately.

What we do not promise

Transparency applies to the limits of these safeguards too.

In exceptional conditions such as a broker failure, a sudden market crash, a price jump when markets reopen after the weekend, or a technical outage, a loss can exceed the limit you set. These events are rare but real, and they affect every automated platform.

No safeguard is absolute
