Drawdown is the gap between the highest point your account ever reached and the lowest point it dropped to before recovering. Formula: (peak before drop − lowest point before a new high) ÷ peak. If equity ran 10,000 to 8,500 and back up, you took a 15 percent drawdown along the way.
It is the metric that tells you what something actually felt like. Win rate and total profit show the end state. Drawdown shows how dark it got in the middle. A strategy that compounds 30 percent over a year sounds wonderful, until you learn it spent two months down 25. Same year, same return, very different sleep.
Two flavors get reported. Max drawdown is the worst peak-to-trough drop on record. Current drawdown is the gap between today and the latest peak. Both belong on the strategy page. Either one alone hides part of the story.
On Javlot, you cap the second one yourself. If your equity falls past the threshold you set, every position closes automatically. The default we show per strategy is a conservative read of its history. Tighten it. Loosen it. It is your call, on your account, on every strategy you run.
